2006 Blog'D Award - Best Short Lovecraftian Film

Directed by Raymond Zablocki, Binding Silence is a short film that tells the story of William Barner (played quite convincingly by Paul Guyet) who, while working at his uncle's used book store (his uncle is played by Michael Graves), stumbles across an old book that initially piques his curiousity but eventually snags his utmost attention. We never see much of the book; instead, we watch William as his obsession takes control over his responsibilities to the book store, to his uncle and to himself.

Films based on or inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft run the gamut from grand to bland, but Binding Silence is more than just a competently-filmed story. It's a creepy and eery movie that transcends the Lovecraftian imagery and themes.

And that's it for the 2006 Blog'D Awards . . . Thanks for watching . . . And here's to a great 2007
